Project Overview
The Bentway is a unique and innovative WATERFRONToronto project that reclaims the lands underneath Toronto's Gardiner Expressway, transforming them into public recreational space. Phase 1 encompassed 1.75 kilometres, from Strachan Avenue to Bathurst Street, creating a setting for year-round activities, public art installations, community programming, and more. One of the Bentway’s signature features is the 220-metre skate trail, used for roller skating in summer and ice skating in winter.
Project Highlights
Working collaboratively with other trades on the Bentway’s facilities and advanced cooling infrastructure, Guild solved many complex control and distribution requirements to make the system operational. Through detailed coordination with Kiewit (the general contractor) and WATERFRONToronto, Guild overcame significant obstacles to obtain and install distinctive lighting from architecturally sourced international suppliers, a key element in the creation of a unique skating experience for the public.
